DxO Software is what I use for most of my image processing. I am currently using PhotoLab to process my raw files and FilmPack to expand the capabilities of PhotoLab when I want to use film grain to enable me to use digital images along side any analog images that I am creating. I use the Nik Collection for added filters to my tiff and jpeg files and if I have to go into Photoshop and process an image with Camera Raw then I can always preprocess the image getting DxO’s special demosaicing processes with DxO’s PureRAW.
Often if I am converting a Tiff or Jpeg image into Black and White I use the wonderful Silver Efex Pro Plugin that comes in the Nik Collection. Now however I have discovered that I like to process my raw files into Black and White then I use FilmPack as it lets me work inside PhotoLab with my Raw images and it even lets me choose 35mm, medium format or larger format grain to have on the resulting images.
As someone who has used a lot of cameras from Nikon, Leica and Sony I have the need for a raw convertor that lets me choose how I want the images to look, when processing images I can in PhotoLab choose to have the software create a rendering profile for one of my cameras so all images for a project have the same rendering even if I have used multiple different cameras and cameras brands to make the images. This makes it easier to make the image look like they are from the same body of work.
*Full disclosure, I am currently employed by DxO part-time in the Press and External Relations team working with influencers and the photographic press. If you want to know more about this please get in touch as I would love to have more influencers to be working with in this role.
