Lightroom: tricks that I did not know.

I have been using Lightroom for a while now and I have been playing with the black slider but at 1.20 in the above video is something that I did not know and I think is really interesting as it helps in setting your black and white points in a digital image. Interesting and helpful Lightroom tutorial.

I am personally a but confused by Adobe’s decision to make a subscription model for Photoshop (costing Annual plan for £17-58 per month on a contract).  I have been teaching photoshop for a while now and I can’t recommend it any longer, to most of my students. As they are not prepared to pay a monthly subscription for Photoshop, so I am now advocating Lightroom and if students have Mac’s to consider Pixelmator as it will do a lot of the retouching, but have Lightroom doing the raw conversion sorting and production of the images. For those on PC’s, I currently do not have a suggestion as to what to do, as while Photoshop Elements is better than ever it is insulting to people to label Elements as consumer software for photographers and it has its limitations which are not very good for delivering optimum quality 16bit files which in my opinion are important, if you are only creating Jpegs then it is not an issue.
